CESSNA | C525A | CITATION CJ2+ (2005-2015)

BRIEF HISTORY – C525A – CITATION CJ2+
The Cessna Citation CJ2+ (Model 525A) is the 6th generation of the Citation series and is an improvement to the Cessna Model 525A Citation CJ2. The Citation CJ2+ features updated engines, upgraded avionics, and improvements throughout the cabin. The Cessna Citation CJ2 began production in 1999 and deliveries began in 2000. Cessna would announce an upgraded variant, Citation CJ2+ at NBAA in 2004 and the CJ2+ would make its first flight shortly after on April 2, 2005. One year later in 2006, the first Citation CJ2+ would be delivered. With the Citation series continued success, Cessna continued to improve upon the Model 525A again and create a larger Model 525B, Citation CJ3/CJ3+ series then CJ4 as well as a smaller Citation M2. Due to demand, Cessna would discontinue production in 2015. Right before, in 2014, Cessna also released the CJ2+ Alpine Edition which incorporated Garmin’s G3000 avionics suite as well as new cabin stylings similar to the Citation M2.

CABIN COMFORTS
The Cessna CJ2 boasts a spacious interior with six seats, a fully supplied refreshment center, and a private lavatory. Cessna outfitted its updated CJ2+ with the highest quality material, appliances, and technology. It’s comfortable cabin measures 4 feet 9 inches (1.45 m) tall, 4 feet 10 inches (1.47 m) wide, and 13 feet 7 inches (4.14 m) long, with a total cabin volume of 246 cubic feet (6.97 cu m).With a maximum seating capacity of eight, it could be pretty tight, we would recommend keeping it around 6 passengers. It has a total baggage capacity of 75 cubic feet (2.12 cu m) with 10 cubic feet (0.28 cu m) located in the cabin and the remaining 65 cubic feet (1.84 cu m) is located in an external compartment. It’s the ideal aircraft for short to mid-range journeys and a terrific choice for high-altitude locations because it’s quiet and comfortable. You’ll be rested and ready for work or fun when you arrive. Airshow / Moving Map Display, 110 AC Outlets in Cabin, Passenger Flight Phone, and hot Coffee Station are among the other facilities.

POWER AND PERFORMANCE – CITATION CJ2+
The legendary Williams-Royce FJ44-2A-24 engines, which deliver 2,490 pounds of thrust each on takeoff, was one of the most important upgrades to the CJ2+. The -2A-24 engines provide 190 pounds of thrust greater than the FJ44-2A engines used in the Premier IA, but are otherwise comparable. Despite having identical engines and maximum takeoff weights, the jets behave significantly differently on the runway: the CJ2+ requires 3,360 feet (492 less than Premier) to take off at sea level and 5,180 feet (1,708 less than Premier) to take off from a 5,000-foot runway. And for landing the Premier I require 3,202 feet of runway, about 500 feet more than the Citation CJ2+. Once airborne, the CJ2+ can reach 37,000 feet in 15 minutes, two minutes faster than the Premier IA. The CJ2+’s high-speed and long-range cruise speeds are much slower than the Premier IA’s, although the difference is negligible when actual journeys are computed. Notably, its MMO (maximum Mach operating number) rose by almost 10 knots! The CJ2+’s fuel consumption is 140 gallons of fuel per hour (GPH).

FLIGHT DECK – CITATION CJ2+
Another contributing factor to lowering the operational cost on the CJ2+ is the reliability and simplicity of its flight systems. Engineers fitted the completely integrated Pro Line 21 avionics package into the cockpit, which was also overhauled and improved. The industry-leading IFIS from Rockwell Collins is an intrinsic part of the CJ2+ and enables a higher degree of operational efficiency and convenience by paving the way for a paperless flight deck. The File Server Unit (FSU) is at the heart of the system, communicating with the Pro-Line 21MFDs over a high-bandwidth Ethernet link.

CHARTER A CITATION CJ2+
When compared to similar private planes, the Citation CJ2+ is very intuitive which makes the flight much smoother. Thanks to Advanced IFIS capabilities such as electronic charting, graphical weather, and upgraded flight deck maps, these significantly improve situational awareness and split-second decision-making. All of this to ensure the highest levels of safety are achieved and maintained on every flight. The advantage of having such straightforward operational requirements is that this private jet may be operated single pilot if need be, allowing for exceptional flying flexibility. We always recommend two. CharterJets Inc. features the newest and highest safety rated Citation CJ2+’s available. Reach out today to discuss your upcoming travel!
