BRIEF HISTORY – FALCON 6X

DASSAULT FALCON 6X (2022-PRESENT)
The Falcon 6X is one of the French manufacturer’s, Dassault Aviation, newest business jets. As a result, the Falcon 6X comes equipped with the most cutting-edge technologies for optimal comfort and convenience. Dassault also claims that the Falcon 6X belongs to a separate category: ultra wide-body business jets. The Falcon 6X, on the other hand, falls within the Ultra Long Range group in terms of industry classification. The Falcon 6X sits between the larger 7X and 8X in Dassault’s business aircraft series. Despite being a member of the “X” family, the 6X lacks the three jet engines found on the 7X and 8X. This, however, has no bearing on its range or fuel efficiency. The 6X can go from London to Sao Paulo or New York to Tel Aviv in class-leading comfort. The 6X was developed from the Falcon 5X program announced in October of 2013 at NBAA featuring a 5,200 nautical mile range and widest Ultra Long Range Jet cabin. On December 13th, 2017, Dassault Aviation announced the termination of the 5X program due to engine delays incurred by Safron. Dassault Aviation announced on the same day a new program powered by Canada’s best, Pratt and Whitney’s. The 6X was released in 2017. Dassault introduced the 6X at this time, with a 2022 release date. The 6X’s design was released in 2018, and it took its first flight on March 10th, 2021. Deliveries followed in 2022.

CABIN COMFORT – FALCON 6X
The 6X has more headroom and cabin width than any other in Dassault’s ultra-long-range flagship. Enough for each passenger, even the tallest, to stand tall and move around the plane freely and easily. Its industry-leading cabin is 6 feet 6 inches tall, a massive 8 feet 6 inches wide and 40 feet and 4 inches long. Its cabin provides enough room for three big lounge spaces and a variety of cabin arrangements. Some are even outfitted with a shower or a big entryway with a qualified crew rest for very lengthy flights!Dassault Aviation’s interior design team set out to rethink every component of the long-range business jet and what they ended up designing is the ultimate cabin experience in private aviation. Passengers aboard the 6X will ride in an ultra-quiet cabin that takes advantage of noise-cancelling technology developed for the Falcon 8X—the quietest business aircraft on the market. When flying at 41,000ft (12,479m), they’ll fly at a cabin altitude of just 3,900ft (1,189m) and stay fully refreshed throughout extended trips thanks to the aircraft’s superior environmental control system. Individual seating has been given more room, and more seclusion has been built in. During nocturnal flights, these nuances are especially noticeable in the rear cabin. The cabin has 30 extra-large windows, as well as a skylight over the galley area, which is a first in the business jet market. HondaJet was the first ever to install a skylight in a business jet, specifically in their spacious lavatory. The 6X will also provide more versatility with its work stations, for example, easily converted into dining places, while lounges can readily be converted into sleeping quarters. The Falcon designers have also included small details that may make places feel cozier, such as cabin lighting that can be dimmed quickly via an app on a passenger’s personal device.Last but not least, FalconConnect, a new inflight broadband service keeps passengers completely connected at all times, no matter where you are in the world, it will be available. FalconConnect combines all ground-based and satellite communications in the cockpit and cabin into a single bundled product, making on-board connection technologies simple to use and administer.

POWER AND PERFORMANCE – FALCON 6X
Two rear-mounted Pratt & Whitney Canada PW812D engines power the Dassault Falcon 6X. Each engine is capable of producing thrust of 13,460 lbf. As a result, the 6X can take off in just 5,480 feet and it  is capable of landing at a distance of 2,480 feet. The 6X can fly 5,500 nautical miles (6,329 miles / 10,186 kilometers) without refueling when optimized for long-range cruise (0.80 mach, 8 passengers, 3 crew). The 6X can cruise at 600 knots (0.90 mach) when optimized for high-speed cruise. The 6X has a maximum takeoff weight (MTOW) of 77,460 pounds and can cruise up to 51,000 feet. The 6X is also exceptionally stable at the speeds and angles required at tiny airstrips, thanks to Dassault’s military aircraft pedigree. As a result, compared to non-Dassault aircraft, takeoffs and landings are safer and faster. The 6X’s wing is designed to perform well at both high and low speeds. The aircraft has unusually low take-off and approach speeds because of its leading edge slats and trailing edge flaps. The 6X has an approach speed of only 109 knots, which is roughly 10 knots slower than most comparable jets with equivalent performance ratings. At slower speeds, larger safety margins are allotted. Also, the slower the aircraft can approach the runway prior to landing the better as it requires less power and distance to stop.  As a result, the 6X can land in airports such as London City and Lugano.

FLIGHT DECK – FALCON 6X
Dassault’s award-winning avionics system, the EASy III, is installed on the Falcon 6X. Dassault makes major enhancements to the EASy flight deck with each version. The EASy flight deck will be adored by passengers and pilots alike, thanks to recent technological advancements and by listening to Falcon operators. Dassault has improved the EASy III’s ability to power on and power down all systems with a single button press. The FalconEye Combined Vision System, which has won numerous awards, is included in the 6X. This device offers flight crews with unmatched situational awareness. FalconEye is the first civil head-up display that integrates augmented and synthetic vision capabilities, according to Dassault. FalconEye combines synthetic, database-driven terrain mapping with real-time thermal and low-light camera imaging in a single view on a heads-up display (HUD), giving pilots unrivaled situational awareness in all conditions, day or night, and allowing them to fly low-visibility approaches with exceptional safety and reliability margins. The FalconSphere II is also installed aboard the aircraft. This is an integrated Electronic Flight Bag system that cuts down on mission preparation time and effort. The four huge windows in the cockpit provide outstanding visibility to the pilots. It is equipped with glare shields that are designed to give pilots a wider field of view. Finally, the 6X includes the Digital Flight Control System (DFCS), which controls all flight control surfaces, including slats and flaps. Excessive structural speed restrictions or stalling are avoided by flight envelope protection allowing pilots to rapidly and decisively attain maximum performance without exceeding the limit.
