BRIEF HISTORY – FALCON 900LX

DASSAULT | F900LX | FALCON 900LX (2010-PRESENT)
The French Aircraft Manufacturer, Dassault Aviation, watched its newest creation, the Falcon 900, take flight on September 21st, 1984. The Dassault Falcon 900, frequently abbreviated as the F900, is a trijet business jet manufactured by Dassault Aviation. The Falcon 900 is an evolution of the Falcon 50, which was in turn an evolution of the older Falcon 20. The Falcon 900 is constructed entirely of composite materials and features an S-duct feeding the center engine. Dassault continued to update the 900 series to increase performance, technology, and efficiency. They were the Falcon 900-B, which has a longer range, and the Falcon 900EX, which has additional engine and range enhancements as well as an all-glass cockpit. The Falcon 900C is a companion aircraft to the Falcon 900EX and succeeds the Falcon 900B in production. The Falcon 900EX EASy features updated avionics and the Falcon 900DX is a shorter range variant prior to the 900LX. At EBACE 2008, Dassault revealed another evolution of the Falcon 900 series: the Falcon 900LX, which incorporates Aviation Partners Inc.’s high-mach blended winglets. The Falcon 900LX sets the bar for dependability, adaptability, and fuel economy in its class. The 900LX boasts a redesigned, sleek new fashion-forward cabin that is equal parts attractive, comfortable, and functional. With almost 500 Falcon 900LX aircraft constructed, this is a significant aircraft.

CABIN COMFORTS – FALCON 900LX
Dassault excels in fusing aesthetics and utility. The 900LX is no different. According to Dassault, the Falcon 900LX is “beautiful in design and intelligent in function.” And a prime example is the FalconCabin HD+ cabin management system. This system enables passengers to operate the entire cabin from their own seat. Controllable features include lighting and temperature. Furthermore, travelers may choose from a variety of entertainment and connectivity options. SATCOM’s voice and broadband data services are also available as options on the 900LX.The 900LX’s cabin is second to none in terms of quality. A sophisticated combination of materials has resulted in an elegantly designed space. The designers were able to create a roomy feeling cabin through smart space utilization. The armrest conceals the controls for the cabin management system. These conveniently positioned controls are within easy reach while being unobtrusive. The cabin’s closely placed windows provide for an abundance of natural light throughout the cabin. Dassault has managed to lower the cabin’s noise level to only 54 dB. This, paired with the aircraft’s revolutionary “mood lighting,” creates a comfortable and carefree environment.

POWER AND PERFORMANCE – FALCON 900LX
The 900LX is one of only three tri-jet aircraft currently in production, the others being the 7X and 8X. Three engines allow for a quieter cabin and lower crucial landing speeds. This not only makes landings safer, but also boosts the aircraft’s short field capability. Additionally, the 900LX’s three engines increase maneuverability on the ground, demand less hangar space, and provide greater peace of mind.Three Honeywell TFE731-60 engines power the Falcon 900LX. At sea level, each engine generates 5,000 pounds of thrust. These three engines deliver unmatched efficiency, low fuel consumption, and low noise levels.  Over 11,000 of these engines have been installed and have registered over 100 million hours of operation. As a result, you can rest assured that these engines are tested and reliable. The Falcon’s takeoff distance is a minimum of 5,360 feet. The aircraft has a short landing distance, only 2,415 feet. This enables the airplane to maneuver via smaller airports, meaning you can utilize smaller airports closer to your destination.  At a maximum cruising altitude of 51,000 feet, the tri-jet can cruise at 533 knots. Without refueling, the aircraft can go up to 4,750 nautical miles (5,466 miles / 8,797 kilometers) in its optimal configuration. The 900LX has a maximum take-off weight of 49,000 pounds (MTOW). The 900LX boasts a baggage weight capacity of almost two and a half tons and measures 127 cubic feet.

FLIGHT DECK – FALCON 900LX
Dassault has installed the EASy II flight deck on the Falcon 900LX. It significantly improves crew coordination and situational awareness by providing pilots with everything from flight planning and automated checklists to the aircraft’s precise position, situation, and environment via an innovative graphical interface that enables pilots to work together ‘heads up.’Crew collaboration and situational awareness are enhanced with the EASy II flight deck. Dassault’s Combined Vision System and FalconEYE, the world’s first Combined Vision System designed specifically for business aircraft, are among the features. It gives unmatched situational awareness to flight crews in all weather situations, day or night. FalconEYE is a head-up display (HUD) that overlays thermal and low-light sensor pictures with synthetic, database-driven terrain mapping. On the HUD, these variables are grouped into a single display. FalconEye significantly increases the margin of safety for all airport operations, but particularly at problematic airfields with tough surroundings, truly an incredible piece of technology.
