BRIEF HISTORY – NEXTANT 400XT

NEXTANT 400XT (2011-2014)
Nextant Aerospace was founded by Kenneth Ricci in 2007 and is headquartered in Cleveland. They are regarded as the first American company to dedicate all their focus and talent on bringing reimagined business aircraft to market. They thought the Beechjet / Hawker 400A/XP was the perfect aircraft, ripe for remanufacturing. Originally designed and built by Mitsubishi, this aircraft would change hands a few times. Next it would be updated and developed further by Beech Aircraft Company and is now a subsidiary of Textron. The Beechjet / Hawker 400A/XP aircraft’s original airframe has been re-engineered into the Nextant 400XT aircraft. It has all of the advantages of a new, modern aircraft, but at a much lower operational cost. As a result, out of the entire original aircraft, only 12% of the original aircraft remains. Mainly the airframe. Meaning, 88% of the aircraft is entirely brand new; boasting greater speed, comfort, range, and efficiency. The Nextant 400XT model took its first flight in March 2010 and received its certificate from the FAA at NBAA in October of 2011. It also made its first delivery directly to its client at NBAA who was a fractional ownership company, with a total of 40-aircraft ordered for $150 million. It offers additional space, improved noise insulation, and improved aerodynamics, which its sloped winglets certainly help with. In 2014, Nextant Aerospace introduced a replacement to the 400XT, the 400XTi which boasted new engines, increased aerodynamics, brand new avionics suite, and an entirely redesigned cabin. The 400XT would end production in 2014.

CABIN COMFORTS – NEXTANT 400XT
Once you’re inside the cabin, one truly understands the 400XT incredible upgrades and thoughtful design. The Nextant is renowned for its flat floor design, which is the only of its kind in its class. The 400XT features a groundbreaking, uniquely shaped composite interior cabin shell that offers an additional 3 inches shoulder room and 2.5 inches of headroom over the Hawker 400XP. The cabin boasts dimensions of 15 feet 6 inches (4.75 m) long, 4 feet 9 inches (1.46 m) tall, 4 feet 11 inches (1.52 m) wide, with a total cabin volume of 305 cubic feet (8.64 cu m). It also has a total baggage capacity of 46.4 cubic feet (1.31 cu m), with an external compartment of 26.4 cubic feet (0.75 cu m) and an internal compartment of 20 cubic feet (0.57 cu m).The aircraft cruises at 45,000 feet (13,716 m) while keeping the cabin altitude to a low 8,000 feet (2,438 m). Lowered cabin pressure, lowered cabin noise levels, and new ergonomic seats work in unison to stave off jet lag, guaranteeing you’ll be refreshed and focused once you land. Nextant’s 400XT is fully equipped with the latest cabin technology and productivity tools, which are fully prepared to provide optimal productivity at all times. Throughout the cabin you notice distinctive LED illumination creating the most comfortable atmosphere for every passenger. Typically, its configuration will comfortably seat 7 passengers with 4 captains chairs and a 3 person divan. Integrated with the elegant design is convenient passenger controls at each seat to adjust cabin lighting and temperature. Thankfully there is still enough space for the most important aspect, the full-service galley. Positioned near the flight deck it’s equipped with dual hot cup containers, dual ice containers, a trash container, and plenty storage for wine, sodas, and snacks. It is also equipped with an aft lavatory, fully enclosed, featuring a solid door for increased privacy.

POWER AND PERFORMANCE – NEXTANT 400 XT
The groundbreaking FJ44-3AP engine is substantially lighter, quieter, and more fuel efficient than its predecessors, which is partly responsible for the 400XTi’s outstanding range (increased by up to 32 percent). The FJ44-3AP outperforms the engines it replaced not only in regards to range and fuel consumption, but also in the shop, with annual maintenance costs being reduced by 27%! The interval between overhauls has been increased to 5,000 hours. The engine is also noticeably quieter, allowing the 400XT to comply with Category IV noise restrictions.

FLIGHT DECK – NEXTANT 400XT
The Nextant 400XT is equipped with the Collins Aerospace Proline 21 Avionics Suite, which represents industry leading innovation and cutting-edge technology for modern aircraft in the 21st century. Proline 21 is a tested and proven avionics suite that offers the optimal balance of functionality and efficiency. The standard configuration includes four Liquid Crystal Displays (LCDs), a dual Altitude and Heading Reference System (AHRS), a Global Positioning System (GPS), an Automatic Dependent Surveillance Broadcast (ADS-B Out) Version 2 (DO-260B), a Wide Area Augmentation System (WAAS)/Localizer Performance with Vertical Guidance (LPV), a Terrain Avoidance and Warning System (TAWS), Integrated Flight Information System (IFIS (CDU-6200). The avionics suite’s popularity has hardly waned since its release, now totaling over 4,650 business jets that have upgraded to the Pro Line 21.

HOW DOES THE NEXTANT COMPARE
In comparison to the Beechjet 400A/XP, the remanufactured aircraft have 40% more range, 32% more fuel efficiency, climb rate reduced by one third, and almost a 30% reduction in operating cost! Nextant Aerospace exceeded even their own expectations with these numbers. A new FAA Data Plate and Nextant Production Number were issued as it became classified as a new type in the Aircraft Bluebook as a result of the incredibly thorough and detailed remanufacturing process.
