EMBRAER | EMB-500 | PHENOM 100E (2014-2017)

BRIEF HISTORY – EMBRAER PHENOM 100E
In 2008, Embraer delivered the first Phenom 100 which exceeded everyone’s expectations. In 2013, Embraer introduced an improved version of the Phenom 100 which is an Entry Level Light Jet or Very Light Jet (VLJ), with the new Phenom 100E. The improvements Embraer made on the 100E were to increase cabin comfort, connectivity, as well as update the braking system and includes multi-functional spoilers. Embraer also outfitted the 100E with additional safety features to decrease pilot workload to maintain the highest level of safety achievable.

CABIN COMFORTS – PHENOM 100E
While the interior of the original 100, in collaboration with BMWDesignWorks, initially received high praise, however numerous early adopters of the 100’s complained about overall comfort in regards to the design of the seats. Also, there were numerous complaints about the noise level of the fan for the two zone environmental control system. Those qualms were quickly quieted and Embraer has now equipped the 100E with premium slide, swivel, and recline executive seats, identical to those on the larger Phenom 300, providing the passengers with increased mobility and versatility in the cabin to ensure the highest level of comfort and functionality. BMW utilized its expertise to use an optical trick on the floor—a pair of chrome strips that extend the length of the cabin and into the cockpit, visually lengthening the entire space. Chrome is carried into the flight deck on the rudder pedals and classic “ram-horn” control yokes.

POWER AND PERFORMANCE – PHENOM 100E
The Phenom 100E was a leader in its class in performance and was outfitted with the same powerful Pratt & Whitney PW617F-E engines as on the previous 100, providing 3390 lbs of thrust each. It has a range of slightly under 1,200 nautical miles and can take off on runways as short as 3,400 feet. It remains one of the quickest jets in its class while maintaining similar operating expenses to a much slower and louder turboprop. It has a max cruise speed of 389 knots. The 100E features standard options, at no additional cost, formerly additional on the 100 model, such as Enhanced Takeoff Package, which increases engine power during takeoff;  max weight increased by 330 pounds of passengers, baggage, or equipment, referred to as the maximum zero fuel weight. Embraer upgraded their avionics system as well.

FLIGHT DECK – PHENOM 100E
The Phenom 100E features redesigned and reimagined flight deck including enhanced avionics functionality in the flight deck such as Jeppesen electronic navigation charts, electronic checklists, and the Synthetic Vision System (SVS), which provides an additional margin of safety during inclement weather and more technical airports. Embraer has also outfitted the 100E with Gogo Biz Internet capabilities.

CHARTER THE PHENOM 100E
With this variant, 100E, Embraer addressed the issues with the 100’s brake-by-wire technology and errant brake-warning CAS (crew alerting system) message. Embraer rapidly addressed these issues with a software update and by modifying the brake control unit and by adjusting the pedal location and feel to align the feedback pilots receive with conventional mechanical/hydraulic brakes. It reinforces that Embraer will go above and beyond to keep its loyal base satisfied. And you have to give them credit for implementing direct feedback from some of its earliest adopters. With a mindset like this, Embraer will continue its meteoric rise and possibly rise above the big two one day, Airbus and Boeing. CharterJets Inc. features the newest and highest safety rated Phenom 100E’s available. Reach out today to discuss your upcoming travel!
