RAYTHEON | HAWKER BEECHCRAFT | PREMIER IA (2003-2010)

BRIEF HISTORY – PREMIER IA
In the late 90’s and early 2000’s, the business jet segment was buzzing about all the Very Light Jets that were announced and being produced. And Raytheon Aircraft Co., as far as we know, was completely unfazed by it. Its jets, on the other hand, are built for a balance of speed, cabin space, and comfort. With 133 total sales, the Beechcraft Premier I was a moderate success when it was introduced in 2001. The combination of a 451-knot maximum cruise speed with a six-seat cabin with berth-able seats, an aft lavatory, and a refreshment-center is some of its biggest draws. The aircraft is certified for single-pilot operations and has the popular Rockwell Collins Pro Line 21 avionics suite in the cockpit. However, we always recommend two. The new Premier, designated the Premier IA, is a little upgrade over the previous model. It retains the Premier I’s 2,300-pound static-thrust Williams International FJ44-2A engines, boasts the same speeds and performance numbers, and has the same Pro Line avionics, but there are a few notable differences. Premier IA’s commenced production in September 2005.On May 19th, 2008, Hawker Beechcraft launched the new variant by announcing the Premier II. Developed from the Premier IA, the II would feature increased range and payload. First flight was scheduled in April of 2009 and in the first half of 2010 it had its FAA certification planned. On August 31st, 2009 the company announced a delayed delivery date of late 2012 or early 2013. In October 2010, Hawker Beechcraft rebranded the Premier II as an upgraded Hawker 200. In 2011, Hawker Beechcraft again said it was slowing production of the Hawker 200 due to an uncertain economy. Hawker Beechcraft would cease all aircraft production after filing for bankruptcy in 2013.

CABIN COMFORTS – PREMIER IA
Changes to the cabins have also improved the IA’s passenger experience. In the design department at Raytheon, the marching orders are “cabin first,” and it shows in the new Premier IA’s. The cabin’s huge size is comparable to Raytheon’s larger offerings such as the Hawker 800, midsize jet. The cabin of the Premier 1A is one of the largest for a private aircraft of its size, with space for six in a 315 cubic-foot cabin. 13.5 feet long, 5.5 feet tall, and 5.6 feet wide are its dimensions. For optimum passenger comfort, the cabin is constructed with contoured headroom. The aircraft’s comfort is further demonstrated with fold-out tables on both sides, LED illumination, and fully reclinable, extra-wide, contoured seats. A variety of cabin entertainment systems and interior trim/finish modifications are also available. an Airshow flight information display, a 10-inch color monitor, a CD/DVD player for audio and video programs, adjustable shelves, and storage drawers.Internal and external baggage compartments have a total capacity of 74 cubic feet. It has a 41,000-foot certified ceiling. Cabin pressure can be controlled either automatically or manually and is rated at a maximum of 8.4 psi, meaning cabin pressure will remain around sea level up to 22,000 feet. The cabin will remain at or under 8,000 feet while at 41,000 feet.

POWER AND PERFORMANCE – PREMIER IA
Not just the passengers enjoy the Premier IA, the pilots will thoroughly enjoy themselves as well. The Premier 1A is equipped with two Williams/Rolls-Royce FJ44-2A engines, each capable of producing 2,300 pounds of thrust at takeoff. When loaded to its maximum takeoff capacity of 12,500 pounds, the Premier 1A can take off in 3,792 feet and climb to 37,000 feet in seventeen minutes. It had a top speed of 451 knots (.80 Mach) and a max range of 1,693 nautical miles. The one-of-a-kind design reduces drag while increasing cruise speed and high-altitude capability. Thanks to its incredible performance, the Premier 1A is able to utilize smaller airports saving you time and money, despite the wing being extended to hold an additional 250 pounds of fuel than was initially planned.

FLIGHT DECK – PREMIER IA
The Rockwell Collins IFIS-5000 Integrated Flight Information System (IFIS) and the Pro Line 21 Communication, Navigation, and Surveillance (CNS) package come standard with the Premier 1A avionics suite. Dual graphical multi-function displays, electronic charts, upgraded map overlays, 3D flight management system mapping, paperless cockpit, and real-time graphical cockpit weather are all included in the IFIS. Instead of two LCD panels, the updated IA features three. The Integrated Flight Information System (IFIS), which was first launched on Raytheon’s Hawker 800XPi aircraft in June 2005 and has been utilized in larger business jets such as Falcons and Challengers since 2004, is a welcome addition to the Pro Line 21. The IFIS can support electronic charting (JeppView services from Jeppesen) and data-linked graphical and textual weather information from either XM WX Satellite Weather or Universal Weather and Aviation datalink services via an Ethernet connection.
